Three decades ago I started in talent acquisition because I was good at reading people and good at the work. What I learned, over and over, is that the people on the other side of the desk were rarely lacking talent. They were lacking strategy. They were lacking a coach who would tell them the truth about what they were up against. So I started doing that work on the side. Then in earnest. Then full time. Is this only for people in active job searches?
No. About half my clients are gainfully employed and quietly preparing for the next move, six to twelve months out. The earlier we start, the more room you have when the right role appears.
I'm a senior leader already. Will this feel basic?
If you've ever had a coach hand you a generic worksheet, I understand the concern. The work I do at the senior and executive level is positioning and narrative work: how you're being read in rooms you're not in. It's not resume tips.
How is this different from a recruiter?
A recruiter works for the company. I work for you. I've sat in both seats: running senior searches inside the Fortune 500 and coaching candidates through them. So I know exactly what's said in the rooms you don't get to be in.
What if I'm not sure what I want next?

How long until I see results?
Most Teardown clients have a revised resume and LinkedIn within 5 business days, and start seeing better recruiter response within 2 to 3 weeks. Search clients typically have an offer in hand within 8 to 14 weeks. That said, I'm not selling a guaranteed timeline. I'm selling the strategy and materials that close the gap. The market still moves at its own pace.
I've worked with a career coach before. It didn't help. Why would this be different?
Most career coaches have never sat on the other side of the table. I've spent three decades there. I know what hiring committees actually say after the interview, what makes a recruiter pass on a candidate in the first ten seconds, and what level of positioning gets you taken seriously for the role you're targeting. Offer acceptance rate is one of the cleanest measures of how well a search is run: it captures positioning, fit, and negotiation strategy in a single number. Industry average for senior searches is around 60 to 70 percent.
Why work with you when ChatGPT can rewrite my resume for free?
